Anaconda Cut Team and Residents Support the Aegis Trust

Latest News, 26 June 2019

Staff and residents at Anaconda Cut are proud to be supporting the Aegis Trust through an innovative clothing donation initiative.

We are hosting a White Rose donation bank onsite to collect donations of clothing. The donations will then be distributed to support the work of the Aegis Trust, which works to combat human rights abuses worldwide.

White Rose was founded in 2010 by Aegis Students, the charity’s youth branch. Since then, they have opened two charity shops with a difference, selling high quality, handpicked recycled fashion, accessories, and gifts. They also have a sorting hub in Ancoats, where our donations will be sent and processed.

The donation bank can hold approximately 20 6kg bags of clothing. It is fitted with innovative technology to alert the charity when it reaches 70% capacity, ensuring it never overfills. White Rose team members then collect the donations and update us on how much we have raised and diverted from landfill.

Anaconda Cut’s Community Director Nathan has worked with White Rose before and is delighted to partner with them again.

“The staff and I are committed to ensuring our residents can easily contribute to amazing charities, such as Aegis Trust,” he says. “White Rose are both innovative and forward thinking in the work they do, and ensure our residents are engaged with the charity through regular updates notifying us of the direct impact our building has contributed to. Over the coming months we will be working with a number of local charities whilst also striving to become a truly diverse and inclusive community.”
